Whatever It Takes The Ultimate Secret To Success
Whatever It Takes Years ago, someone gave me a booklet called The Ultimate Secret To Getting Absolutely Everything You Want. The heart of the message? To succeed at anything, you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to get there. With life coaches, self-help books and the Internet so readily available to most of us, why isn't success guaranteed? Could it be that the missing vital ingredient is an attitude that nothing is too difficult or costly or inconvenient because 'it' is worth it? In the context of career change, 'it' could mean finding a new career, building a viable online business, or reviewing your career options. What is your 'it'? What Does It Mean To "Do Whatever It Takes"? Let's see how this principle might work in real life. Suppose your goal is to start over in a new career 12 months from now. You go about compiling a list of all the things you need to do and all the career choices you have to make. Let's say you come up with a list of 42 things to do. The Ultimate Secret says: in order for you to succeed, you must be willing to do every one of those 42 things. Suppose #11 on your list involves you relocating to a different country. Immediately your fears override your logic and produce a string of objections. What about my friends and family? The kids will have to change schools. My spouse may have to find another job. Your conclusion? This is too hard. I am willing to do everything else except #11. When You Say "I Won't" The moment you give up, the moment you close your mind to alternatives, you've short-circuited the whole process. Everything that was set in motion by your original desire, everything that was flowing towards fulfilling your goal, now grinds to a dead halt. This is a very important universal truth that you need to know. Life favors the persistent AND the willing, the person who won't take "no" as the final answer. Sorry, No Shortcuts There must be a way around this, you say. How about we go down the list and hope #11 doesn't come up? If it doesn't come up, that means I won't have to do it, right? It doesn't work this way either. The very thing you were trying to avoid will insist on popping up. It may even come up earlier, as a #7 or #1. It's almost as if wants your attention. Have you noticed how the more you try to avoid something, the more likely it is to happen? The Law Of Negative Attraction You're in a lecture, frazzled because you haven't done your homework and you don't know what's going on. The lecturer starts looking around for a "volunteer". You shut your eyes and pray fervently, "Please-don't-call-me-please-don't-call-me!" Sure enough, you hear the lecturer call your name. The Secret: Throw In Everything You've Got! You might as well decide in advance that you're going to give your goal everything you've got. If you aren't willing to go all the way, find a new goal. One that will make your heart soar. One that you will instinctively do anything to attain, whatever it takes. What The Ultimate Secret Is Not About The Ultimate Secret does not say that you must do all 42 things, only that you must be willing to do them. This is a vital difference. If you have the willingness (the right attitude), it's enough. You may find that you do not even need to worry about #11, because it has mysteriously resolved itself and is no longer a hindrance. But this bonus is reserved only for those who were prepared to go all the way. When you are willing to do whatever it takes to get what you have set your heart on, and nothing is too much trouble, you have virtually no choice but to succeed. My Experience I have tested the Ultimate Secret myself, and I can tell you it works. Life really does favor the willing worker. I remember a time I found myself struggling. I remember stubbornly clinging to this thought: I'm not giving up. I won't let this thing beat me. I'm going to do whatever it takes. Something strange and wonderful happened. The very thing that seemed to be my greatest obstacle melted away. It was as if I was tested...and I passed with flying colors. I had learned what I needed to learn. Now I was fit to go on to the next part of my journey.
